For eight weeks we walked through the Major Arcana — 22 cards representing universal archetypes and the great chapters of human experience. Now we enter the Minor Arcana — 56 cards that mirror our daily lives. If the Major Arcana is the novel, the Minor Arcana is the diary. Where the Major speaks of destiny, the Minor speaks of Tuesday.

The Minor Arcana divides into four suits, each linked to one of the classical elements. Each suit contains numbered cards Ace through 10, plus four Court Cards — Page, Knight, Queen, and King — making 14 cards per suit, 56 in total.

Thought, truth, conflict, clarity, and intellectual power. The sword cuts through illusion to reveal truth — but truth can wound. This is the suit with the most challenging cards, because the mind can be both our greatest tool and our deepest source of suffering.

The four elements appear across all cultures — in Buddhist philosophy (ดิน น้ำ ไฟ ลม), Greek cosmology, Chinese medicine, and Thai astrology alike. Tarot's four suits are a Western expression of a universal recognition that reality has four fundamental qualities of energy.

Ace to Ten: A Story in Every Suit

Within each suit, numbers 1–10 tell the story of a journey — from seed (Ace) to completion (10). This pattern repeats across all four suits, but the nature of the journey changes with each element: a journey of passion (Wands), of emotion (Cups), of thought (Swords), or of material growth (Pentacles).

Each suit has four Court Cards — Page, Knight, Queen, and King — making 16 court figures in total. These often represent actual people in our lives, or aspects of our own personality that we are currently embodying.
